Technical accessibility

Technical accessibility is about how visitors, with or without the aid of special technology, read and absorb the website’s content. In order for this to work, websites must validate, be built according to standard, use CSS, separate content from design, use the correct elements, code and so on.

Technical accessibility is crucial in order not to exclude the blind, vision impaired, grave dyslectics, moving impaired and other groups of people entirely from the website.

That the website also becomes easier to handle, grants better results in search engines and functions faster when coded correctly does not make technical accessibility less important. Technical accessibility is the foundation of all accessibility work. Websites that fulfill high accessibility demands as regards to technology are in no risk of automatically excluding users with assistive technology.

Not only in theory

Funka’s model of analysis is, combined with our long experience of several thousands of website examinations, based upon W3C’s guidelines. Everything we recommend is tested in reality, with different focus groups, with and without assistive technology.

Funka’s surveys are presented in a report that can be ordered with or without solutions/measures. Based upon that report we do a joint review with you and your developer to ensure that the content is interpreted correctly. The aim of the review is not only thought of as a test of acceptance but also thought to grant you and your developer knowledge on how to prioritize the measures.
