Linguistic accessibility is about content. No matter how good the technical- and pedagogical accessibility is, if the content is too hard to understand the website will be a failure. We know that 25% of the adult population experience difficulties comprehending the content of an ordinary Swedish newspaper. Many dyslectics, immigrants and people with different disabilities are in need of special linguistic aid, but the group who would benefit from information becoming more understandable is much bigger than that. Funka examines the way visitors are addressed, language structure, choice of words, dispositions, perspective and so on.
Funka’s model of analysis, combined with our long experience of several thousands of website examinations, is based upon W3C’s guidelines. Everything we recommend is tested in reality, with different focus groups, with and without assistive technology.Funka’s surveys are presented in a report that can be ordered with or without solutions/measures. Based upon that report we do a joint review with you and your developer to ensure that the content is interpreted correctly. The aim of the review is not only thought of as an acceptance test but also thought to grant you and your developer knowledge on how to prioritize the measures.
