Funka started as a non-profit project by the handicap movement. Among other things the project developed an accessible Web Content Managing System and an online portal for people with different disabilities – created by people with disabilities. The portal became very popular and became the basis for our whole business.

As of 2000, Funka is a privately owned company. We market services within accessibility and our close relationship with the handicap movement remains intact. Not only do we develop and manage many of the handicap movement’s websites, with our key customers watching every step we take, critically and in detail, they provide us with a unique quality check. They also grace us with a lot of clever ideas on how to solve difficult accessibility issues. We also have a huge network of people with disabilities who are more than willing to help us test/check websites.

Many of Funka’s staff have worked with accessibility since the mid-90s. Today we are the leading experts within that field. When we are in a bragging kind of mood, we have a habit of saying that we can take any interface and make it accessible.

We work mainly on the Scandinavian market but we also have customers in Great Britain, Iraq, Belgium, India, El Salvador, Thailand and Estonia.
